The Estonian Ministry of Defence announced on 14th February that it would procure ZU-23-2 23mm anti-aircraft artillery systems to install on several of its naval vessels. Once installed, these weapons will provide Short Range Air Defence (SHORAD).
The acquisition of the ZU-23-2 equipment from Finland is occurring alongside the delivery of additional launchers and spare parts for the country’s MBDA Mistral SHORAD systems purchased in 2007. The Mistral components are also being sourced from Finland.
