‘Brave’ class to carry Terma Scanter

French shipbuilder DCNS has revealed that it’s new ‘Brave’ class of logistics vessels will be equipped with Terma’s Scanter air and sea surveillance radar.

Speaking during a briefing on board the French Navy’s Tonnerre amphibious support ship on 25th September, the company said that the ships will be offered to customers with the Terma system, although adding that other radars could be selected by future customers if so required.

The ‘Brave’ class ships are being offered for a French Navy requirement for a new underway replenishment vessel. In addition, DCNS revealed that the ship could house a customer-specified self-protection payload such as Raytheon’s Phalanx close-in weapons system.
